01 It is possible to learn a language in many different way. One way that appeals to many people is reading. What is important to
02 remember that if you wish to speak, nothing will replace the activity of speak. However by learning to better use your reading
03 time you may well be able to accelerate your learning of speaking. Instinctive  most people read for meaning. Of course this is the
04 reason we read, so there is nothing surprise  about that. However when we learn another language there can be other uses to
05 which we can put reading. There are skilled language learners who undoubted read for more than just meaning when they are
06 reading (not all the time of course, but it is a skill many have developed and use as require). They use their awareness to look at
07 parts of the language that many not so skill  language learners may not. Through this they come to better understandings of how
08 the language “works”. Some of what I suggest may not feel comfort  for you or may appear hard to adapt to. Don’t be put off.
09 Have a looks  through the suggestions to see if at least one of them may be something you could entertain taking on board. I will list
10 here a number to alert you to the power that reading has for the skill  learner:
11 Reading to see how the language fit  together: Let’s say you have an issue with the English articles ( a, an & the). Try reading a
       12 piece of text that is an easy comprehension level for you and then find every article. Then go over each ones  and try to understand
13 why they are the way they are. Reading to see how language flows.: Sometimes in different culture  people develop arguments in
14 different ways. This is especially true in non-fiction writing. However, sometime  even in the same culture this can happen,
15 especially between the women and men!  Reading for punctuation :  Every punctuation marks  has a different purpose ( sometimes
16 even more than one) By being observe it is possible to find out their uses Reading for vocabulary. Many language learners run to
17 a bilingual dictionary as soon as they come across an unfamiliar word. Don’t be so haste  next time and see if you can guess the
18 meaning from contest. Reading for style : There are many styles of writing, compare the style of a newspaper for example to a
19 magazine, to a textbook. All this can be understood by the reader who pay attention to more than just the meaning.
